Meet the adorable Nikki. Nikki is starting her senior year at Kalamazoo Central High School. Nikki has an amazing gift. She is a super talented, self-motivated, graceful ice skater. Here is her before and gorgeous after: This black and white image was one of my favorites from this session. I told her to be serious the second before I snapped this shot. She busted out in laughter the second after this frame, which made us all giggle with laughter. I think being serious was not something she was interested in. I don’t blame her; she has a beautiful smile, so why wouldn’t she want to show it off. The image right next to it was a little more serious, because she was hot. It was one of those scorching days we have been having. We started in the usual spots to get these amazing pictures. Nikki, you were so easy to photograph. I think you know your body well, and I always say, girls that know their bodies photograph the best because they can move. I love these colors and that printed skirt. So very cute!
Nikki wanted a Dream session because she wanted to incorporate her skates. Skating seems like such huge part of her life. First, we decided to make the most of out of the location, which was an open field with a lot of wild flowers. We decided her theme would be dramatic and fun and skate oriented. So, I came up with smoke. I have tried to use a smoke machine before for session. Once I used it inside my small studio space. That was a disaster because the room filled with smoke within seconds and I couldn’t even see what I was trying to photograph. Then I tried to use a smoke machine outside, but again, it covered up what I was trying to photograph. But this smoke was much lighter and easily controlled, which made it really easy to use.
The image below on the right is my favorite image. It was so hard to be serious because it was so much fun! I think we were all giggling and giddy when we were shooting these. It really was a blast!
Yep! Look at that big smile. Proof that it was so much fun we all couldn’t stop smiling.
