This week I plan on showing off a lot of what happened last year at the gala, so that you all understand just how amazing it was. This video was captured by one of my models, Katharine Watson. She did such an amazing job of showing you the magic that was in that room.
I’m not going to lie, I cried the first time I saw this video. It still gives me chills to watch it. I have to wonder why. I think it is because there is so much beauty in something so simple. It is not just a photograph or a group of people coming together to look at them. It is a beautiful expression of how I see girls. They are innocent and beautiful and nothing can snatch away their beauty from these images. They are captured in a small moment in time, pretending to be something other than they are. But they are the essence of these images and brought my ideas to life.
Not only are these images alive to me, but the people in the room see the same thing I do. As an artist, as maybe other artists can attest to, I see things differently. An abandoned house is not a pile of rubble, but secret stories that float through my mind. An old red barn is not a run-down building, but a textured backdrop to catch the sun. A color is not a color, but it’s a dream what physical thing I can touch. I know, I know. It all sounds weird, but that is how a creative mind works!
So, here is my gorgeous video and when you watch it, try to see it how I see it!
I can not wait for April 18 to do it all over again. You can purchase tickets HERE for the gala this year!
