Although it has been a few years since I was a teenager, I can still remember how much of a nightmare it was to deal with my oily, acne prone, mega sensitive skin. It took me a few years, but I finally figured out how to deal with it, and by the time I was in my mid teens my skin was great. Follow these tips for healthier skin:
You won’t ever be able to scrub away your acne, this in fact will only make it worse. When you use soaps and creams that have abrasive ingredients it actually can cause little tears in your skin, allowing for more acne to form. This is why you will want to use a gentle toner on your skin instead. Make sure you do this twice a day. If you don’t, you won’t see the kind of improvements that you are looking for.
You might not think that your skin needs this, especially if you were like me and had oily skin, but all skin types can benefit from a light cream applied before bed.
Makeup can certainly help you to feel more confident if you have problem skin, but if you don’t remove it every night, then your skin won’t get better anytime soon. Make sure that you are using clean brushes and tools to apply the makeup as well. At night use a gentle makeup remover, no matter how tired you might be, or how little make up you wore. Also, this is a good time to mention that when you are doing your makeup, you don’t want to cover your face in powder to make your skin less oily. This may just clog up your pores and make the problem worse. Instead use blotting papers to help get rid of an excess shine.
Don’t pop Your Pimples
It can be very tempting to see a whitehead sitting right in the middle of your face, knowing that if you just give it a little squeeze it will be gone. Unfortunately that whitehead could be replaced with a scar that you’ll never get rid of. This is because when you pop a zit, it tears the surface of your skin. While one little scar won’t make a difference, if you are prone to breaking out and popping all of your whiteheads, you could end up with some very noticeable scars.
This can be both the easiest and hardest tip to follow since many people regardless of age have a hard time of drinking the proper amount of water. One way to do this is by keeping track with an app on your phone, or even having a friendly competition among your friends to see who can reach their goal the most times in a month. Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin hydrated and help it to get healthy from the inside out.
