It Hurts My Heart
It kind of hurts my heart that I haven’t posted these images for Sydney sooner. I love creating images and I love showing off the images, but sometimes there is a disconnect between those two things. Like I said before I didn’t get to use my social media manager in 2020 and I didn’t realize how much I depended on her until I didn’t have access to her! But really, I have no excuse. I just really suck at social media. Conversely, I am better at other things, like actually taking the photos. It’s about balance, I guess.
Strange Session With Sydney
This was a strange session last year. Not because Sydney wasn’t amazing. She was. But it was more about navigating how COVID was newly in our world. Last spring we had this session scheduled and we wanted to do it, but weren’t quite sure how to manage this new life change. It was so strange.
Not only we were cautious because COVID, but it was drizzling outside and the radar looked like a huge storm was coming. It was confusion on top of uncertainty! What a strange place to be, metaphorically.
Visions With Sydney In Mind
But I had this vision of Sydney wearing this long pink skirt and a new Zara blouse (I found at Goodwill). Actually, this blouse is still in my closet and I keep thinking it would look great with loose Free People jeans, but I haven’t even tried it on yet.
My vision was to just let Sydney move. I wasn’t planning on directing her a lot, just moving around and following her with my camera. (It sounds creepier than it actually is!) So we moved. We moved in the drizzle of the rain. It felt so good because we were normal for a minute. The rain didn’t disappear, but it seems like it was gone. COVID didn’t disappear, but we weren’t worried about it for a moment in time.
