As you can see in the picture on the left, she looks like she is ready to hang out, but not necessarily go out. When you are getting ready for your senior pictures, you do not want to choose clothes that simply say “I’m hanging out today.” They need to instead say, I am ready for this day!
Start with a great base.
Start with a great base with jeans and a t-shirt.
It can really be any t-shirt, like Anabella is wearing here. We choose a simple v-neck, gray t-shirt. Graphic t-shirts work well too.
Jeans. Oh jeans. I could write an entire blog post about jeans. But let me condense my thought here. Jeans are all about the fit. They have to fit your body for two reasons.
01. They have to look good. They need to fit properly (which is so hard because our bodies all are different. When my friends say they found a great pair a jeans and I think “Oh maybe they will work for me” but I end up being wrong because my friend who said she found a great pair happened to be 5’8 and I’m 5’2, so the length was way off. I tend NOT to listen to brands my friends like because I am shopping for my body shape, not theirs.
02. They have to feel good. Have you ever had a pair of jeans that look good, but feel terrible? They might be too tight. Or they might be too long. It doesn’t matter the reason, if they don’t feel good you will be itching to get out of them the second you can. Hello sweatpants. If you don’t feel good while you are wearing them, it will show pictures. Believe me. If there is any reason to be self conscious, remove the reason! I know. It’s easier said then done.
Now that you have your base, build with layers. Your layers can be anything at all. We choose this simple Old Navy blazer with pinstripe lining. If you are going to layer, make sure that all the layers are seen. For example, with this pinstripe lining, you would never know it’s there if we didn’t roll up the sleeves. So make sure to sure off all of the intricacies of the layers.
Add and add and add until you can’t add any more. The more the better. Bags, sunglasses, earrings, necklaces, bracelets. Keep going and going. There is no wrong here.
You can bring boring clothes if you want, to your senior session. But I promise you will have pictures that will be way better than boring. We will dress up your hang-out clothes to make them look like you are on your way to Hollywood! I promise!
