Bring me in closer to these images. Do the kitschy details make me cringe. Absolutely not! I LOVE all the details. The closer these images get, the more I like them. Makes me wonder why I choose a full length image for the first image revealed. Why didn’t I choose the close-up image? #regrets
What Did We Really Think?
Sarah’s Thoughts: There is so much. There is so much. There is so much going on.
Valerie’s Thoughts: You need a minute to see all that is happening here. Bring me in closer to see all the details.
Sarah: Do you see the shoe? One shoe hanging on her braid. She has got so much that you really have to take a deep breath and read her. Otherwise you are going to miss the details. And there are many details.
Valerie: It keeps going. There is not just one shoe. There is a second one under her chin. Shoes are kitschy, right?
Sarah: And there is a big eyeball, and a ticket, and Barbie, and a soda can. I think her eyebrows were glitter. With lime green on the inner corner of her eye.
Valerie: I appreciated that Ellie was willing to go all out kitschy with this. When we got her in the chair and said “we are going to shove stuff in your hair and we are going to make it uncomfortable.” Her response was “Let’s do it. Let’s do anything. Let’s keep going.” I love that she was able to do that. I love that her outfit came together really well, but those are her own shoes.
She Fit Into Our Kitschy Theme
She was able to fit right in to this character that we were creating. Which, somethings it’s hard. Sometimes you can’t read about the world that we are creating because it’s not written. It’s all in our heads. For us to be able to thoroughly explain it every time we were photographing, it gets hard to express it. Sometimes we miss details because we can’t remember who we said what to.
But Sarah and I are so in sync that we have it, it’s hard for us to share it with the girls while we are photographing them. But Ellie seems to be in sync with us the entire time that she was there. She wasn’t embarrassed that there was glitter on her brows, or embarrassed that there is a shoe and a pop can in my hair. She just rolled with it all really well. That was a really fun transformation.
