Ubauro We were looking for a fun, creative outfit for this session. We wanted something casual, but still “put together.” It took me a while, but I thought about last summer when Sarah (hair and makeup) and Sarah (styling) photographed a senior in Holland, Michigan. On the way home we stopped in downtown Holland to do a little shopping. Our two favorite stores are on the same block. JB and Me and Spring Sweet are two of the cutest shops. (Please come to Kalamazoo!)
Sarah found these darling baggy overalls and I forced her to buy them. (Let’s just get this straight; if you shop with me I become a total enabler and forcefully encourage you to purchase anything that looks good on you. Normally I am forcefully encouraging you to save, but that all goes out the window when we are clothes shopping.) Not only did I force her to buy them, but I forced her to wear them all summer. I would have bought them for myself, but they didn’t look good on my short, little legs #shortgirlproblems. It sounds funny, but I would dream about these overalls and how to style them because I thought they were so cute. Those first few weeks after she bought them I think I sent her an over abundance of Pins on Pinterest #sorrynotsorry.
Coffee Shop Vibes
So anyway, these overalls came to mind when we were styling Maddy for her pop-up Brand Influencers session. Cute, yet casual. Perfect for a coffee shop on a snowy, winter day. So we went to one of our favorite coffee shops, Factory Coffee, downtown Kalamazoo. Not only does this place have great coffee, but it has a darling atmosphere!
Fun fact about Valerie: she can NOT drink coffee because caffeine makes her hyper, uncomfortably jittery, have a headache and never sleep! It’s truly a bad combination and one you do not want to witness. Instead she loves decaf and adores the smell of coffee. Right now her go-to drink is cayenne, lemon juice and maple syrup mixed in hot water. (You probably would either LOVE it or HATE it.)
