Destination Senior Session Florida
Lower Hutt I am trying to plant the seed that destination senior sessions are something to be considered. Last year I did a destination senior session in Florida. Lexie was a Michigan native, so she was familiar with my work. I announced that I was doing destination senior sessions and she jumped on board. Sarah and I flew down to Clearwater, Florida to give her an awesome experience. Destination senior sessions don’t have to be limited to Michigan or near us, but can be anywhere in the US. (But I have my passport, so I’m willing to do a destination senior session anywhere!)
Lexie was a senior at Lakewood Ranch High School and is now at State College of Florida. She enjoys youth group, dance, shopping and going to the beach. She wants to be a labor and delivery nurse after college, and is really excited experiencing independence and new opportunities after graduation. Lexie’s gentle nature will make here the perfect labor and delivery nurse!
The three words she uses to describe herself are cautious, smart, hard working, which I have to agree describe her perfectly. Lexie was a delight to work with, she knew exactly what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to try new looks. Her bucket list includes visiting Europe, see each state in America, and visit Jerusalem to see the holy land.
Lexie’s definition of true beauty is:
True beauty is being confident in who you are and treating others the way you would want to be treated! Generally being a decent human being.
I have so many fun memories of this day. I hope Lexie does too.
Lexie loves to shop, in fact she wasn’t able to pick just one and said to never leave a store behind! Her favorite color to wear is light pink, because it is pretty, happy and everyone looks great in it. Look at the image below. She planned this out and doesn’t it fit her personality perfectly! I mean, come on!
Memories
One of my favorite memories of this day was that Lexie was never on her phone. So many of my seniors bury their faces in their phones, that sometimes it’s difficult for me to get to know them. I get it. I do the same thing. Especially when I don’t know someone. Or when I am in a situation that is new to me. But Lexie was present the entire time. Because this was a destination session, those take ALL DAY LONG. We had to stop for lunch. (This is usually where I pause to talk about food because I love food so much. But I’m not going to do that here.) During lunch Lexie never looked at her phone. I don’t even know if she had it with her. It meant a lot to me that she never checked it. It made me feel like I was important. I felt like the day was important to her. It’s amazing how simple that act can be. I applaud you for being present with me. I loved getting to know you in such an authentic way.
Augh. So many favorite spots from this session. These walls were amazing and we could have spend the entire day here. When you book a destination senior session you can have as many favorite spots as you want.
However this was where Sarah felt cold. On a 100 degree day, with 75% humidity, feeling cold is actually a very bad thing. Lexie on the other hand may have been sweating buckets (so was I!) but you could never tell in these images!
We ended the day at a botanical garden and captured what Florida is really like. These palm trees gave me so much inspiration!
I would 100% recommend a destination senior session for anyone looking for something extra. Go beyond what everyone else is doing and make it really special with your favorite location. I’ve heard Iceland is great. Let’s go! For more location inspiration, click here.
