Katelyn just graduated from Mattawan High School. During high school, she had the opportunity to go into the Fire Science Program at the Van Buren Technology Center. She completed a college course to get her firefighter certification. Since this is such a huge accomplishment, and a big part of her life, we just had to incorporate that into her senior session somehow.
We decided to take some pictures at the Mattawan Fire District with a fire truck and even in her uniform and helmet. This was exciting for me, because it was something completely different than the rest of my senior sessions. I am so glad that these images turned out so great, and that we got to incorporate such a big part of Katelyn’s life into her senior session.
Making an Impact
So Katelyn actually works as a volunteer firefighter at the Mattawan Fire District alongside her father and brother. I think it is so cool that being firefighters has become a family thing. Katelyn, you and your family are an inspiration! I can’t even imagine all of the lives you’ve impacted at such a young age. What an amazing way to give back to the community.
Katelyn describes herself as driven, calm, and fierce. I could not agree more with the words that she has chosen to describe herself. In the future, she wants to pursue a career as an athletic trainer. All of my seniors are so unique, and it is a privilege to photograph so many amazing girls.
We stepped away from the firehouse for a second, to get a couple more images. I love this one that we got with a cherry tree.
Katelyn’s definition of true beauty:
Being able to look and feel comfortable with who you are.
