Lauren is from Kalamazoo Central and we decided to do her senior pictures downtown, because downtown Kalamazoo has the cutest spots to roam around. I feel like we are moving away from being out in a field all the time for senior pics. I honestly happy about that because I get bored photographing at the same spot all of the time. There are only so many fields I can visit before I am bored with them. I guess the same will be true of downtown Kalamazoo, if everyone wants to shoot there. The nice thing about downtown is that we can walk from street to street and still see things that are new. In fact, as we were walking from spot to spot for Lauren’s session, we saw a spot that would be perfect for my next senior. We didn’t use it for Lauren because we were headed in the opposite direction. So some lucky girl will have a fresh spot next time I shoot downtown.
For this session, Sarah went crazy with the outfits she picked out for Lauren. Luckily Lauren loved everything she picked out so we ended up using all of it. I think there were 3 outfits that Sarah styled and I fell in love with all 3. I think all 3 ended up staying in the style closet. So if you like the look of any of these outfits, you might be able to use them for your session. Of course we would vary it up, so they wouldn’t look the same. Every girl adds her own flare to each outfit. *On a side note, I am definitely stealing the last outfit because it looks professional. I guess it’s not really stealing if I own the style closet, right?
Beauty on this inside is important to me. So I always ask my seniors how the feel about beauty. Lauren said:
“My definition of true beauty is have self confidence in yourself and to find your own unique beauty on the inside and outside.”
Right on, Lauren! We speak the same language!
These pictures turned out amazing because Lauren was able to open herself up to me. There is magic when that happens. I completely understand that it is hard to do, but Lauren was able to show me that she is giggly, even if she comes off a little bit shy. I loved it when the giggles came out because she made me feel like I was hilarious. Who doesn’t want to be hilarious? But she showed off more of her personality than just being giggly. She was laid-back, but knew what she wanted and what she liked.
I also liked that Lauren described herself as smart. There is power in being smart. Use that to your advantage Lauren!
Once again I will explain I still have one or two openings for senior session in August, but the dates are very limited. If you haven’t booked your session yet, what is holding you back? What can I do to convince you that you don’t want to miss out on this amazing experience?
