Gabby was a natural model in front of my camera. I totally get her. She didn’t come to me originally for senior pics, because she felt she was too simple and didn’t need them. But after she gave it a long, hard thought (and probably after the yearbook deadline) she thought she wanted to be in front of my camera for more than just good senior pics. She wanted to get in front of my camera to see if she had any options when it came to pursuing a career as a model.
I technically don’t know the things modeling agencies look for in a model, because I am not an agency, but I definitely know when someone is comfortable in front of the camera. Gabby was one hundred percent comfortable. I loved photographing her. (And I was even more thrilled when she came back to me and said an agency needed more shots!) How to Have a Stellar Senior Session
Gabby’s session really stood out from a lot of the other sessions I had in 2018. Let me point out a few reasons why it was so stellar.
- Gabby paid attention to her outfits ahead of time. She picked out things that looked good on her body, even if they might not be things she wore to school. One outfit was a black lace dress. Her mom said “I don’t know how she would wear this, but she thought it might be fun to play with!” That was the perfect attitude because when we added a black top and leggings, it looked incredible. And we would have never had an opportunity to make those red shoes pop without it.
- Next Gabby was willing to move around, a lot. She didn’t just stand in one pose and wait for me to pose her in the next spot. Because she knew that she was allowed to move and try new things without being told she had to.
- The other thing that Gabby did really well was pose herself naturally. She ran her hands through her hair, she leaned on the side of a building, she sat down in heels. All of those things came naturally to her and looked amazing on camera!
I would actually love to photograph Gabby again because she made it so easy for me!
