Never Hate Your Headshot
Frankfurt (Oder) I get a little bit cringy when people say they hate their headshot. I mean, why?
Let’s go over a few reasons why you may hate your headshot and how you can fix it by booking a session with me.
Let’s Answer Some Questions
First of all you have to start with one question. Why do you hate your headshot? Let me ask you a few questions. The answers to these questions are really simple and can help me give you a completely different experience with your new headshots.
Reasons Why People Hate Their Headshots
- Do you hate your headshots because the photographer didn’t take the time to ask you what you wanted?
Sometimes the simplest action can lead to a huge result. Let’s slow down. That is a simple action that can lead you to love your images more. I know we live in an age of mini sessions and quick fixes, but when it comes to your headshot it’s really important to get things right and not rush. If your photographer didn’t ask you what you wanted, maybe you rushed through the process. Slow down. Talk it out.
- Did you share your vision with your photographer?
Maybe your photographer didn’t stop and ask you what you wanted, but you also have a responsibility to share your vision. Sometimes headshots mean different things to different people. Did you want a solid background but the photographer gave you a fireplace. Those two things don’t match. So again, slow down and share your vision. Have examples of what you like, even what you don’t like is a good start. Share your vision.
- Do you hate how you look?
If you currently hate your headshot and you didn’t like how you looked, get right down to it and identify what you didn’t like. If you start with, you gained too much weight over the years, then I have news for you. Unless something drastically changes, THAT IS WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE. Stop with the “I weigh too much crap.” Either do something about it, or accept it. Those are your two options. Because complaining about it annoys everyone.
But there could be something completely different. Maybe you didn’t like your makeup. That is an easy fix. Hire a professional makeup artist. Maybe you didn’t like your hair. That is an easy fix. Hire a professional hairstylist. Maybe you didn’t like your outfit. That is an easy fix. Ask your photographer what looks good on camera before you assume you will look great in the puffy sleeved, oversized blouse.
What I am trying to impart here is that you change some things with really easy fixes. But you can not change your body type. You own that. It is yours to keep.
Never Hate Your Headshot Again
What I can tell you right now is that you never have to hate your headshot again. Work with a photographer that will slow down and listen to you. Share your vision. Ask for help to look and feel great on the day of your session. Adjust your budget accordingly to meet these expectations. Otherwise, you will continue to hate your headshot.
