This is Sarah’s biggest little human. And it’s time to celebrate her.
Ary celebrated her Quinceañera this year. (Even though she technically will turn 16 this year, it is the celebration that matters, not the date.) Sarah and Ary needed images for her Quinceañera invitations and Sarah assembled the most perfect photo session.
The cars, sunglasses, colors, clothes, hair, makeup, and attitude came together so easily. It is so important to put together elements that have meaning and tell a story.
Ary’s Mexican heritage is such an important part of who she is, and it’s amazing to honor it. Ary’s life, even though it has been short, has had a lifetime of experience. She’s already an old soul because of what she had to go through. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a party to celebrate becoming an adult.
Sarah didn’t need to put heaps of effort into this session, she just had to put the right effort in. She didn’t worry about location or details that didn’t matter. It was the details that made a difference between this session looking lame and it looking fabulous.
It’s amazing how something comes together so well and shows on camera. Putting effort into styling (the cars, sunglasses, colors, etc.) make such a difference in the final product.
I would encourage anyone who wants to be creative with their senior session to put a little extra effort into finding the details that tell a story. Not just any story, but the story of you. You can think about your heritage and what it means to you. Telling a story with your heritage is such a beautiful form of self-expression. Think about how much more meaningful your images will be if it’s more than just your face. I love it when seniors think big, just like Sarah and Ary “thought big” for this session.
