I would say this is stupid good kitschy for our first creation. There are so many of these images that the sessions are starting to blur together. Was this our first session from the kitschy set? It’s possible. I had the entire vision of the outfit created, but I had absolutely no vision of the hair and makeup. Consequently, I left that all to Sarah. I love it when our minds meld into something extraordinary.
Buffalo Exchange Is Always A Winner
Valerie’s Thoughts: We started with this outrageous outfit, and all the details grew from there. I don’t know if you can tell from this picture, but this is a vintage blouse that has this amazing and huge ruffle around the collar.
By the way, I got that vintage blouse at Buffalo Exchange, which is one of my favorite consignment clothing stores. I am deeply sad there is not a Buffalo Exchange closer to us. It has such a strange mix of designer labels and vintage apparel. It’s dreadful and delightful at the same time. Which is exactly how I would describe all of these Giving Gala images. They are dreadful and delightful at the same time. That’s what I would call stupid good kitschy.
Stupid Good Kitschy
After that little tangent, let’s get back to the outfit we styled for this look. We put a black sequin busier on top of it. It turned out amazing. I was in love with how it looked together. All of the colors all flowed together. The colors were stupid good kitschy. I love that about this photo and how it came tougher. All just based on a vintage shirt that I found years ago at Buffalo Exchange.
The other thing that I loved about her in particular was that, again, going back to the Barbie theme, we made her lips pale. It reminds me of old dolls that are loved and used and worn out. After a while, the paint on their skin wears off. For me, the pale color lip feels like she’s the Barbie that we played with a lot. Her hair looks like you have loved that doll for years.
