Winter Senior Sessions
I don’t typically do a lot of winter senior sessions in Kalamazoo, but every once in a while they happen. I always love winter senior sessions because it’s such a different look and different vibe. Of course being outside is terribly cold, but it’s worth it.
It Was Freezing
At one point in this session Michael was clearly freezing. His nose and hands were turning bright red. He couldn’t relax because his body was shivering. It was cold. I don’t recall the actual temperature, but if I had to guess I would assume it around about 20 degrees. Burrrrr.
The Walk-Way Was Great, But Not Perfect
I loved where we were photographing. Actually in the winter it extended me creatively to find new spaces. Mostly, winter senior sessions need to be indoors or partially covered. This walk-way was the perfect spot to shade us from the cold. But it didn’t do enough. It was still bitter cold, even though we were covered. We walked all the way around the walk-way to find the best light. And of course the best light was outside causing Michael to freeze.
Then He Suggested…
So the moment that he couldn’t take it anymore he asked “Can we go someplace else?” My heart sank just the tiniest bit because I didn’t want to leave the walk-way. And then he suggested “Can we go someplace like an arcade?” Then my heart leapt! It was a fantastic idea and I was thrilled. If I had to leave that location, an even better location would be a good reason. Winter senior sessions need to be flexible.
Happy And Comfortable
So we drove across town and found a great arcade and finished our session. The images at the walk-way looked good, but the images at the arcade looked even better. I was thrilled to create images where Michael looked happy and comfortable. So the arcade was perfect for winter senior sessions.
There’s still time to get a senior winter session in over the next 2 months. Give me a call to chat about what your vision is. You can leave me your info HERE.
